Kougar von C is an approved stallion with the American Trakehner Association, receiving very high marks. He was overwhelimingly approved in Canada by a 3 man team that included a German representative from the Trakehner Verband; the governing body of the breed. Their comment was "this is exactly the type of stallion they are breeding for in Europe, and here in the States, as well". Only about 2% of horses born become approved as breeding stallions so we are very excited.
Kougar has a very good neck set, and is very harmonious over all. The inspection team was especially excited about his excellent saddle position and top line. He has good shoulder position and angle. His joints are hard and dry, meaning strong connective tissue, with straight legs. His hind legs are especially good, with very good angluation and terrific push. To watch him move you will notice in his up-transitions, wonderful elevation of the shoulders and thrust from behind. His gaits are very elastic, rhythmic, and they cover a lot of ground.
He loves to jump, heading for the jumping chute out of pure enjoyment. He never even got serious about the jumps until they hit 4 feet and still he could take them from a stand still. He's quite bold, and thinks he runs the show. He has been known to "pout" if we take his brother out first! He is very much a "people horse", and loves a crowd. He stands 16.2 hands, black with a small star, and he is gorgeous!
This family line has proven in Europe that it crosses very well with Thoroughbred and Arabian mares, as well as the warmbloods. Kougar will add substance and strength, good movement, and improve necks and toplines. He should be a really nice choice for just about all of our American Horses.
